Hello
Welcome to NextGen Sport Philosophy, a network for students, early career researchers, and anyone with an interest in sport philosophy. We connect people across disciplines, institutions, and countries to share ideas, build partnerships, and shape the future of sport philosophy.
We'd love for you to join us!
AbOut NEXTGEN
Founded in early 2025, NextGen was created to foster community and meaningful exchange beyond the annual BPSA/EAPS conferences. We know that being a postgraduate student, early career researcher, or professional with an interest in sport philosophy and sport ethics can feel lonely at times, as there are often only a few of us based at the same institution or organisation.
NextGen aims to create a welcoming and intellectually stimulating community where emerging researchers can connect, exchange ideas, and develop their thinking together. We regularly discuss recent academic publications and article drafts written by members of the group on topics relating to the ethical, conceptual, and philosophical dimensions of sport. Alongside article discussion sessions, we also organise more informal meetings to chat about research ideas, academic life, and the challenges of being an early career researcher.
Our affiliation with the BPSA also gives us the opportunity to raise ideas and concerns with the BPSA Executive Committee and contribute to conversations about the future of the field.
Beyond scholarship, NextGen is about building connections. We hope to learn from one another, broaden our perspectives, and enjoy the company of fellow sport enthusiasts and philosophy nerds.

How We Connect
All community activities are coordinated through our WhatsApp group, which serves as the central hub for announcements, discussions, meeting links, readings, and opportunities to get involved.
Meetings
ποΈ We typically meet twice per month on a Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. CET.
π Article discussions: Approximately one week before each session, an article is selected and shared in the WhatsApp group. We then meet online via Teams for an informal discussion, usually lasting around one hour.
π Meeting links and updates are distributed through the WhatsApp group prior to each session.
π Members are warmly encouraged to suggest readings, propose discussion topics, volunteer as moderators, and contribute in other ways. The group is shaped by the interests and initiative of its members.
Contact
We're always looking forward to meet new people intrested in our field. Please reach out to E.M.Eimert@outlook.cardiffmet.ac.uk to join. You can also join closed LinkedIn group.
