TRAVEL GRANTS
The British Philosophy of Sport Association offers Travel Grants to support members who are presenting at BPSA-related conferences and workshops and who do not have sufficient access to alternative funding to attend. The Grants will often be used as part-funding, rather than fully covering expenses. This is because there is a fixed overall sum available, and the more people part-funded, the better. It follows that applications for lower amounts may be advantaged.
The purpose of the Travel Grants is to reduce financial barriers to participation and to enable a broad and diverse range of scholars to contribute to conferences in the philosophy of sport.
Travel Grants are open to postgraduate students, early-career researchers, academic staff, and independent researchers. Applicants must have an accepted presentation (paper or panel contribution) at a relevant conference (e.g., BPSA Workshop or BPSA/EAPS conference).

Grant Structure
Successful applicants will receive a baseline grant of £200, against verified receipts. This amount is intended to offer flexibility in how the funding is used (travel or accommodation).
Where applicants face greater financial need, additional support may be considered. Factors taken into account may include:
· travel distance;
· accessibility;
· environmental considerations (e.g., choosing lower-carbon travel options that may be more expensive).

In exceptional cases, the total award may be increased to a maximum of £500. Awards above the £200 baseline are not the norm and depend on demonstrated need and available funds.

Application and Review Process
Normally, only one application per person per year will be considered. The Award Committee may take previous successful applications into account when making decisions.
Applications must be submitted via the online form by the stated deadline. Applications are assessed after the deadline, and decisions are normally communicated within one month. Out-of-cycle applications cannot be considered.
Successful applicants are required to submit confirmation of their attendance in person on the final day of the event, and to submit a short report after the conference. Funds will be paid once the activity has taken place and the report has been received.
